Volunteer Spotlight
Sid Robinson has been volunteering with the American Red Cross for over 10 years and has enjoyed every bit of it. Some days he is in Virginia, other days he’s up in Pennsylvania. Sid received the 2008 Outstanding Volunteer Driver Of The Year Award for Blood Services. He enjoys being outside and likes driving, which is why his volunteer position as a driver is perfect for him. When asked to give advice about volunteering, Sid says, “Not getting paid is a turn-off to people, but I say ‘Hey. You don’t get paid to sit at home either. Why not give it a shot?’ I volunteer because I like knowing I am saving lives and that is important to me.”
